Mabon Magic: How the Autumn Equinox Helps Us Honor Both Light and Shadow

art by Andreas hirsch

Blessed Mabon / Happy autumn equinox to my friends in the northern hemisphere and happy Ostara / spring equinox to my southern hemisphere friends and welcome all to Libra season!

How are you feeling? Fall is my favorite season and it is about twenty degrees cooler in Denver than it was a few days ago, thank goddess! I woke up feeling the energy was much softer, like a big sigh of relief as the wheel of the year turns to the West with the start of autumn and the Libra season.

Mabon is the second of three harvests and is a wonderful time to express gratitude and reflect on all the growth we have experienced through summer/this year so far. What are you harvesting? What have you accomplished so far this year? Whether progress is tangible or intangible, internal or external, big or seemingly small, take a moment to acknowledge the work you have done and give yourself praise. We are so hard on ourselves and are often striving for more without taking a moment to recognize our accomplishments thus far.

The equinox is the balance of equal daylight and nighttime. Where do we have balance in our life and where would we like to welcome more? How can we honor both the light and shadow aspects within ourselves?
